Hello! I’m Rosie Wiscombe; the designer and maker behind Jeanie&Me.
I grew up in the Westcounty of England and have been fortunate to have travelled across many other parts of the world. I have always taken inspiration from the changing seasons in nature and how colour stories appear within the landscape. I am enthralled by beautiful things of all kinds and love to play with colour, pattern and texture from a vast array of inspirations.
My lifestyle is sustainable. The way I choose to live, work, design and make often celebrates recycling and re-use as I have always found resonance with old objects that carry their history and beauty in the imperfections and wear that they hold.
Jeanie&Me recycles old denim jeans into beautiful and robust new apparel. Each piece is unique and celebrates the hues, wears, fades and design details from the original garments. Sewn with playful details but impeccable workmanship, these pieces are designed to challenge perceptions of ‘recycled clothing’ and should slot into your wardrobe as wearable, timeless and effortlessly stylish additions.
My belief is that recycling will need to become the norm within the fashion industry to combat the massive amount of textile waste created from over-consumption of fast fashion.
Jeanie&Me was born from a serious concern about over-consumption, waste and the future of our planet. But the playful aesthetics of my garments and bags aim to bring joy and creativity alongside the sadness: raising awareness and doing a little bit to make a change.
Turning Blues to Beautiful
Harris Tweed
I have been designing and crafting bags and apparel for over 20 years. Until 2018 I ran a shop and workroom in Stornoway, Outer Hebrides as ‘By Rosie’ working solely with Harris Tweed® for 8 years. Here is where the much-loved Harris Tweed Hoody was born. I continue to work alongside Harris Tweed, using this naturally sustainable, handwoven wool cloth for my hoodies and bags.
